Nikos Papachristos was born in Athens in 1968. He graduated from Ionidios Experimental Senior High School of Piraeus. He has obtained his first Law Degree at undergraduate level (LLB) from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Greece which is situated in Thessaloniki, his postgraduate Law degrees (LLM) from the University PARIS 1 PANTHEON-SORBONNE (D.E.A. Droit public interne) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Law School/ Public Law Sector and Political Sciences) respectively, and he was awarded the title of Doctor of Constitutional Law of the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) with distinction.
He is a lawyer in the Council of State and in Areios Pagos (specialized in Administrative Law, in Constitutional Law, in Public-Servant Law). He worked as a main staff lawyer (fixed remuneration) in the Hellenic Investment Company S.A. (the oldest closed end fund company in Greece, founded by ETBAbank in 1972) from 1999 till 2004 and since then he has been working as a main staff lawyer (fixed remuneration) in Piraeus Bank S.A (Litigation, Labour Disputes and Property Sector).
He has been teaching in the Greek Open University as a contract member (cooperating educational personnel/Public Administration and Politics Theme), as well as in the University of Peloponnese (Department of Social and Educational Policies/Legal status of foreigners, refugees and minorities) and Nursing Department – Post graduate in Health Administration Services and Crisis Management/ International Law – Human Rights). Since 2011 he has been an instructor in the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (qualified as a certified adult instructor).
Scholar of the French Government for doctoral research, he has participated in many scientific conferences and workshops in Greece and abroad. He has also collaborated, for scientific matters, with the Centre for European Constitutional Law – Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation, the Cultural Foundation “Georgios A. Papandreou” and the “Konstantinos G. Karamanlis” Foundation. He is also a member of the Association of Greek Constitutionalists.
He was a distinctive assistant (special legal advisor) of the Hellenic Minister of Transport, the Hellenic Minister of Justice, the Hellenic Minister of Development and the Hellenic Minister of Culture during the period 1994-2000, member of legislative committees, board member of the Archeological Resource and Expropriation Fund and member of the Central Archeological Board. Since April 2010 he has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Defense Analysis Institute.
He has written three scientific monographs and published studies, case law comments and book reviews in scientific magazines and edited volumes.
